Polycarbonate is the sheet you use when you want daylight through the roof - light transmission runs 70-90% depending on tint and thickness. Available as 0.8 mm and 1.5 mm solid sheet, or 6 mm and 10 mm multiwall for better insulation, all with co-extruded UV protection on the exposed face. Impact resistance is the other argument: it takes hail and dropped tools that would crack acrylic.
