Plastering sand is graded finer than concrete sand - Zone III with an FM of 1.8-2.4 and particles in the 0.15-1.18 mm band - so the mortar trowels smooth and closes up without leaving a pitted surface. That fineness is also what reduces shrinkage cracks on internal plaster and gives a better base for putty and paint. Available per brass, per tonne or by the truck load.
