Chequered plate - also called tread plate - carries a five-bar or diamond raised pattern rolled into one face so boots and tyres grip even when the surface is wet or oily. Supplied in 3-6 mm thickness in 4x8 ft sheets, it is used for industrial walkways, staircase treads, platforms, mezzanine floors, tank tops and truck beds. Anti-slip is a function of the pattern, so the sheet thickness can be selected purely for strength.
